I revisited social media as of 7 days ago, as the Kirk shooting info spread

I read the comments following "Kirk was just shot" posts, the very immediate responses of 7 days ago (Reddit, Facebook, etc)

There were few or none outright "I'm glad that he is dead".

The comments were more

1. Snarky or jokey "what's for dinner", "he's looking up at us now"

2. "He reaped what he sowed" was a popular expression followed with Kirk' s statement "some deaths are worth it for the 2nd amendment" . This statement was all over the internet the day Kirk died

3. "I disagreed with his views but no one deserves to die like that"

4. Kirk followers were dismayed/surprised to see the level of disrespect for Kirk

It was also clear that Kirk was well known among social media users and he was very much disliked.

Anyway..this is my nonscientific analysis of immediate post Kirk shooting response
