Would this novel approach to the Government shutdown have been effective?:

Democratic leaders announced, "We are voting for the Big Turd of a budget to keep the government open because elections have consequences. A majority of you gave Trump and Republicans power in 2024 and now you are going to experience a lot a pain because their only priority was more tax cuts for billionaires at your expense. When they literally steal the social security that you paid into every paycheck, remember who did it to you. When you have no healthcare, remember Trump and the Republicans never gave a damn about you. When you have to go to a food pantry to feed your families, remember they distracted you with trans-issues and rounding up migrants."

The good news is that you can restore everything in November of 2026 by voting out every Republican. It's up to you."

Sometimes it seems like Democrats are afraid to embarrass or shame Republicans.

when he voted for the CR. I heard him say it on the Chris Hayes show, not in the exact wording you used.

3. I get what you're saying, but scolding voters usually isn't an effective way to win them over.

All it does it turn them off to you permanently, and then they don't vote at all.

when a significant number of unwashed Magats join with us, they will bring along a few Congressional Magats, maybe?

Would it not have been a better strategy to shut the government down back in March until we got safeguards for our social safety net, before the Big Ugly Death Bill became law?

I just don't get it, now Democrats have to undo a law that has a recissions clause in it which means that Magats can agree to money for the poor and then later take the money away, that means the recissions clause will have to be neutered also.

I said back in March that passing the CR would give Krasnov everything he wanted and Democrats get absolutely nothing in return, and I was criticized, was told that voting for the CR would protect Social Security.

Hey, I'm on board, Good Luck Chuck, great to see you get on board now, and good luck undoing The Big Ugly Death Bill that was signed into law.

I think it is going to take horrendous events to get the MAGAs to even
consider facing reality.

8. I don't think so. I don't think scolding works, though I'd love to do it. I think the right

message that we SHOULD have been putting everywhere was this:

Republicans own this government. They have enough members to pass this budget without any Democratic votes, but they're in such disarray that they can't. This budget is SO bad, they can't even get their own members to vote for it. If they ask us to help them, we'll be happy to do so. But right now they want to hike up your healthcare costs A LOT. Also, they won't release the Epstein files. If they want our help, they need to take healthcare cost increases out of the budget, and they have to release the Epstein files.

If they won't do those things, they're on their own. They'll have to convince their own members to screw you over and protect pedophiles. We simply won't do that.

But it's entirely up to them whether the government shuts down. We have nothing to do with it.
