Talked to a MAGA cousin yesterday and her MAGA husband. First thing I asked was if they had
heard about the Med-Bed hospitals and got the first of many "That's fake news", which told me
they had heard about it and didn't believe their Fuhrer was that stupid.
After several of their attempts to change the subject to Biden or Obama using "That's fake news",
I started saying "That's fake news" to everything they said and they sure in the hell didn't like me using
their favorite saying.
I'll be using this "That's fake news" tactic more often, I have First Amendment rights. Every Liberal
should start using "That's fake news" when dealing with these idiots.

(21,569 posts)since Rs don't like to answer questions and always try to change the subject by answering your question
with a question with something unrelated, keep your question in mind and ask yourself if they answered
your question or side stepped it. Do not allow them to change the subject.
One other thing you could try is write a note with the things you'd like to bash the idiots over the head
with that you could look at real quick if necessary. I knew a politician once that wrote abbreviations
on the inside of his left hand to remind him of the things he planned on discussing. Hope this helps.

(26,252 posts)Usually I didnt have to stay but I hung around and the librarian started reading this book, Killer Underwear invasion by Elise Gravel and its about how to spot fake news and conspiracy. I got so interested I stuck around and listened to her read. Excellent book to teach kids about false information and how to check sources for truth and facts and not fall for disinformation. Im going to order the book when I get home tonight!

(21,569 posts)A hilarious and timely tool to help kids learn how to tell what news is true and what isn't
Can peanuts give you super strength? Were unicorns discovered on the moon? Did Martians really invade New Jersey? For anyone who has ever encountered outrageous stories like these and wondered whether they were true, this funny, yet informative book breaks down what fake news is, why people spread it, and how to tell what is true and what isnt. With quirky illustrations and a humorous tone, Elise Gravel brings her kid-accessible wit to the increasingly important subject of media literacy and equips younger readers with the skills needed to interact with global news.
Glad to see an author giving the younger generation some critical thinking skills.

(102,293 posts)it entails a Magical bed (like the one in the movie Stargate) that will cure everything even missing limbs
so we can live forever if we have one . Trump says that Democrats are trying to keep Americans from
getting these magical beds .

(311 posts)I was at my infusion center yesterday and I saw a lot of medical beds, just like I did when I had surgery in March, comfortable, adjustable, and mobile.
But that is not what the Orange idiot is talking about. The poor quality AI fake video that exposed this supposed conspiracy was an un-aired Fox-like segment.
It's a standard fiction trope. A device capable of restoring any injury merely by being in/on it, a fairly common thing especially in military science fiction, often described as a tank the subject is immersed in. A deus ex-machina from Greek plays.
I doubt he's ever read any science fiction, or indeed any science. Since it was never broadcast someone had to show it to him, who? Maybe Lara thought he'd like it since Faux didn't air it.
He's a racist git but maybe he watched "The Black Panther", there was one in Wakanda that did exactly what he described. Another possibility is he watched "Elysium" with Matt Damon. There the global elite had moved to space habitation, where that technology was provided, but the common folk on Earth were living the hard scrabble life with none of that support. In the end their monopoly is broken and the life-saving technology is unleashed for all.
He can imagine being the white hero saving the masses, yeah that's him. But he'll balk at the ending: This is heroic because the character dies to achieve this. The idea of the Orange Idiot sacrificing anything for anyone else is even more ridiculous than the med-beds themselves.

Maybe in three years when penicillin is legal again (yes, Statler and Waldorf... we know it's not currently illegal; now go away) we can try to mitigate the symptoms and begin to remove the cause.
