Trump claims 'very wealthy person' offered to cover military paychecks during government shutdown

Trump claims ‘very wealthy person’ offered to cover military paychecks during government shutdown

President Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed that a “very wealthy” donor had offered to pay members of the military during the ongoing government shutdown — a generous offer that he said he turned down for now.

“I actually have a man who is a very wealthy person, he said, ‘If there is any money necessary, shortfall for the paying of the troops, I will pay it,’ meaning he will pay it,” Trump said during a meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei at the White House.

“I said, ‘We are not going to need it, we will take care of our troops,’ ” Trump said he responded.

The White House did not respond to a series of questions about the identity of the donor, the amount of money offered or if the deal will remain a possibility as the shutdown drags on.

I wonder who is rich enough?
The obvious would be Elon Musk, but I'm guessing someone with less public notoriety.
Not all billionaires are publicity hounds.

Russians will soon not have a pot to piss in. UKR is decimating Russian infrastructure at an alarming rate. Fuel is being rationed, imports of food have stopped, farm products cannot be harvested. It's a big mess that hasn't crescendoed. Meanwhile, Russian reservists are being called up for active duty with no equipment or munitions to give them.

Russia has a GDP per capita of around $15k.
By contrast, the US is around $75k.
They were already an economic pipsqueak. Now, they're hemorrhaging cash toward military replenishment.
They just don't care how much their bottom 90% need to sacrifice or struggle.

An outright lie.

US military payroll would hit hundreds of millions of dollars in a few weeks time.

This is just Trump testing how goofy a lie he can tell without any press calling him on it.

Total compensation of the US military was $192 billion in 2024. That's $16 billion per month, or about $3.7 billion each week

It's never happened before. We're all in shock. Donny made up a fib and broadcast it over the world. If he uttered one more sentence, it would have included the word, "Sir."

Could also be Prince Bonesaw.
No Billionaire cares about paying "the troops" unless there's a benefit to them, political or financial.
Most of them could care less about the employees and customers that made their billions possible, much less US citizens at large.

As usual completely full of bullshit.

These service men and women are most likely not going to get paid.

The pay the lower ranked enlisted is paltry. Missing a paycheck will be catastrophic for them.

All these rich fucks don’t care.

Trump has never had a job. He’s always been wealthy. He has no context with which to conceptualize the damage he is doing.

Sure he doesn’t care.
