when holding breath, I don't think we will ever see him in prison. I think the window of opportunity has closed. Any trial will be dragged out for years with every slimy legal maneuver he can think of, and he'll croak before he sees the inside of a court room, let alone a prison.

The SC would be the final arbiter even if he left office. They would save him without regard to the law.
