Sex trafficking isn't widely understood. Here is what Epstein did.

Its the difference between a murderer and a person who steals a bagel, Jeffrey Epstein told the New York Post in 2011. Epstein compared raping a 13-year-old girl to stealing a bagel. Let that sink in. This wasnt an accident; it was strategic. In some ways, the bagel was a metaphor for how he justified the depravity of his crimes.
The fact that so many otherwise respectable, powerful and smart people continued to associate with Epstein after it was known he had sexually assaulted so many underage girls is mind boggling. Whats even more insidious is, by having all those elite people around him, those people helped perpetuate the normalization of Epsteins crimes against children.
Make no mistake. Epstein molested, raped, threatened, discarded and mentally tortured girls and young women.

They do not deserve the benefit of the doubt for one thing; also the age question can be a red herring to distract from the fact that the victim was groomed and trafficked -- which by itself is unethical, socially unacceptable, and illegal (obviously depends on specific details).
