I had heard a few reports about it through the day, I was out taking care things like washing the brine off my vehicle because it's the above freezing day in two weeks, turns out it's a long drive to car wash. Listening to NPR I heard about it but up to now, with this report, it's much worse than thought previously. The earlier reports I heard said maybe seven people where being sought,but the group who were rescued were six and the others are all dead, eight people?
It's really tragic in many ways, including the S&R person whose wife is the one missing. In small communities like that it's often the case that couples work for different operators, one will get assigned in a Forest Service job and the other with a local outfitter as a guide, as appears in this case. Everyone in town knows them. Maybe they have kids. I know several couples like this, a few have lost a member and in a couple cases they both passed in whatever their demise entailed.
