https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/platner-sat-lengthy-interview-antisemitic-075439570.htmlPlatner faced blowback this week for boosting a social media comment about a looming war with Iran by Stew Peters, a neo-Nazi influencer who has frequently espoused antisemitic tropes and engaged in Holocaust denial. Platners team said the post was made in error and immediately removed it after learning it elevated a despicable account.
In late January, however, Platner sat for a lengthy online interview with Nate Cornacchia, a retired Green Beret who has also promoted antisemitic conspiracy theories. Near the end of their hour-long conversation, Platner, a fellow military veteran, called himself a longtime fan of Cornacchias YouTube channel, Valhalla VFT, and said it was an absolute pleasure being on the show.
Cornacchia, whose show claims nearly 500,000 YouTube subscribers, has in recent months helped stoke a burgeoning far-right conspiracy theory alleging that Israel was involved in the assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

"Maine U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner made disturbing comments about sexual assault victims in Reddit posts that were deleted shortly before he launched his campaign saying assault victims should..."

Self explanatory why ".. he deleted it Before he Launched his campaign.."
And, as Noted in the Thread.. he uses being "drunk" as an Excuse for the Tattoo But Tells Female Services Members they shouldn't drink or they could end up in a compromising situation."

(2,768 posts)There has been very little polling from Maine. The Maine primary is in June. The UNH poll would only be an accurate reflection if a couple hundred Maine residents aged 18-34 showed up and everyone else stayed home.
I do agree that Antisemistism is a huge problem and it is growing worse. The fact that some are so comfortable in supporting this man online is unnerving.

(1,636 posts)While it's possible he's never heard of Stew Peters (I never have), and maybe he has never heard an episode of that podcast and was just sucking up to the host, that doesn't excuse not having researched the show before going on it, and all the other "accidents" that keep pointing in the same direction.

(69,195 posts)I mean, it's not something that happens to a person by accident, unless they're kidnapped and forcibly tattooed.
Same with going on a bigot's podcast and writing stupid, uninformed things about rape. Many people avoid having those things happen to them.

I still cant believe there wasnt a younger more dynamic candidate than Mills for establishment Dems to put out there.

(7,318 posts)If elected planner will in a sense replace Sinema and be part of the Fetterman caucus..
A lot of good people fell for the progressive cover she presented.on what turned out to be a Republican playbook.
Platner may get Collins re-elected.
Platner is showing us who he is, yet some people will argue on his behalf with what he is showing us.
It seems to me very similar to rationales republicans gave for voting for Trump and Vance.

Seems like this guy is one big walking red flag. I'm sure it's fine. It's all fine. Everything is fine.
