Actually we can go back further--to Nixon; except for Ford (who didn't do much (unless we count East Timor), EVERY GOPee presidunce has either started a war, or enlarged one. Remember Raygun's invasion of Grenada? And Nixon's invasions of Cambodia and Laos?
Face it, Repuglies are just fucking warmongers, as long as they don't have to go. And they don't give a flying fuck who gets killed. I don't think for a minute that donald EptRumpstein will ever show up at a military funeral. I just wish he would show up at HIS OWN--tomorrow.

(541 posts)Ike sent military advisors. JFK upped the ante by adding Special Forces (Green Berets). Then LBJ really escalated the conflict.
I was in college, '67-'71, and a popular chant pre-Nixon was "Hey, Hey, LBJ! How Many Kids Did You Kill Today?"
Same with Afghanistan, as Obama added more troops to Bush's Folly.
**Yes, you did narrow your timeline to "35 years," so a conflict ending in 1974 doesn't "count." I just thought I'd mention it, its being the major military involvement of my generation.

That is why they think they have to act tough.
