Let that sink in with respect to Trump's deepening dementia.
Can a broader, more lethal conflict be avoided?

This has nothing to do with nukes or missiles. Oman has been negotiating as a trusted third party. They reportedly had an agreement on Thursday that Iran would agree to not enrich any nuclear fuel for several years and any already-enriched fuel would be removed from the country.

Lets see how much Bibi and Donnie help the people of Iran after the bombs stop falling.
Cui bono?

(37,483 posts)"Cui bono?" is nice but fallacy prone.
It means, basically, who benefits?
Question is, who's doing the evaluation? I mean, if I had a lover and a stash of $ and a good income in TX divorcing my wife might be a good thing, financially. Then again, if my wife had a lover and knew about my income, she'd rake in child support.
It really depends on what the perp knows and values. If my wife in the preceding paragraph had no lover then why a divorce? if I valued family over $, why divorce?
Thing is, when looking at people from the outside, I don't know their motivations, what's important. And if I don't have a good suspect, that means I don't have any suspect. Because all the 'cui bono' crap is just that--crap.
Esp. if I'm biased--and think my wife must have a lover because low libido = wants another. Ignore actual wife. Or stats. My assumptions are facts, right? Why? Because me. I glory in me-ness. I'm never wrong, as far as I admit--and any evidence to the contrary means you're a traitor to the Cause.
So "cui bono?" works to the extent we know all the wants, desires, motivations of all those potentially involved.
Otherwise, "cui bono?"" = "what do I emote must be bad?" Hardly the same thing as guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

As long as that continues, it's not clear what ox of Putin's has been gored here. Bet that it will eventually resume, shortly.

Everything is getting more unpredictable...

(23,946 posts)Putin OKed this. Probably even provided intelligence. No way would he go against Putin. Russia has to think this is good for them.

This gives Putin even more justification to hit Ukraine.
Next, if China makes a go at Taiwan, we will be on our back heel.

(1,570 posts)lower the worlds access to Middle East oil. Lowering this source not only drives up the price of oil, which Putin needs for his bankrupt country, but also drives many that need oil to tap into his supply that sits in his "Shadow Fleet" tankers now stalled due to sanctions. Putin is happy to see this.
