By most independent observers, the opposition to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the current Government is 70% to 30%.
Trump has called on those opponents to "rise up and take back their country". Problem is that 30% has all the guns and arms, the 70% is unarmed.
So, here's my analogy. Say I'm in a room with 4 of my enemies. They are unarmed and I have an automatic, loaded military weapon. If we have a fight, who is most likely to walk out of that room alive?

(3,049 posts)Mahsa (Jina) Amini, who was 22 years old at the time, was held and then killed by the Iran's morality police for allegedly wearing the mandatory Islamic headscarf too loosely. Women and girls living under the regime of the Islamic Republic, have always lived in extreme structural systems designed to oppress them. Women life freedom is a campaign seeking to expand the set of moral, political, and legal tools available to mobilize international action against and ultimately end the regime that are oppressing women because of their gender. In September 2022, protesters in Iran and abroad adopted the slogan after Zhina Mahsa Amini died while in custody for "improper" attire. The death of Amini, a 22-year-old Sunni woman from Iran's Kurdish community, was a reflection of the escalating and unrelenting authoritarianism of the Iranian regime at a time of deepening economic instability.

Beginning on 28 December 2025, demonstrations erupted across multiple cities in Iran, amid nationwide unrest against the Iranian government and a deepening economic crisis. This event has been the largest uprising since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The ensuing crackdown, which was carried out under Ali Khamenei's and senior officials' order for live fire on protesters according to Iran International, resulted in massacres that left thousands of protesters dead, making them the largest massacres in modern Iranian history. Human Rights Activists in Iran confirmed at least 7,000 deaths; the Iranian government confirmed 3,117 deaths, while other put the death toll at 32,000.

They are more like North Korea and a little less like Great Britain.
