You know...i think i just figured it out. It took this crisis to break this mofo,

Because Iran, unlike kinda the whole rest of the planet, is under not even the pretense of obligation whatsoever to be nice to the dumb fucker, or to 'go along to get along'.

I'm kinda not mad about the fact the playground bully is getting his ass kicked by the only kid on the playground who's already spent time in detention, as it were...
Maybe this was the ONLY way that asskicking was ever gonna happen.

... and Iran has every reason to distrust the US after what we pulled in 1953. What we did to the democratically elected Mohammad Mosaddegh at Britain's greedy behest was utterly despicable.
And putting American servicemen and -women in harm's way just to satisfy Trump's fragile and over-inflated ego is an obscenity. Trump has to spend the rest of his rotten life in prison, or what's left of this country's honor will be down the toilet until our great grandchildren are old and gray.

With "Weapons of Mass Distraction" assault on Iran, he appears to have reacted way too hastily (pressure from Bibi?) and massively overplayed his hand.

Having fired many competent people in the military and cybersecurity, he has nobody to save his little marshmallows from the firestorm he created after the latest Epstein revelations shocked him into frantic and disastrous action.

And a group of Trump humpers like the US did to Iran, would there be the same reaction from the American people?

Bombing Iran turned the Iranian pro democracy protesters to support their once disliked leadership. The people of Iran have now closed ranks and are supporting their leadership in the war against the US.

But if Iran were to wipe out pedo Trump and numerous henchmen of his, I seriously doubt it would cause the American people to close rank and support the remains of the cult of Trump. There actually might be cheering in the streets.

That is what pedo Trump and his idiot war mongers thought would happen in Iran. That the people of Iran would cheer and dance in the streets. Which only goes to show that the pedo and his cult are out of touch with reality.

A statement that I find horrifying and sad.

There needs to be no one else to do the 'asskicking' than ourselves.

But, we won't. My deductions as to the reasons for this are why I am so despondent about our future.

MANY Americans, like me and like a lot of folks here, are doing everything they know how to do to stop this corrupt regime. When you say we "won't" do anything, it implies our efforts are not good enough, futile, and we are powerless--because we are already doing our best. So if our best isn't enough, we do seem to be powerless. But of course, that is an idea the corrupt abusers have always wanted the opposition to accept as truth. They want us to think there is nothing we can do. But the truth is, Americans ARE resisting in every way we know how. Collectively we have never been more powerful in my lifetime, even while the constraints of the law, administration, and the pressures of daily survival make our task more difficult.

Yes, there are folks who still support this corrupt regime, but that is certainly not a majority and they are losing support every day. We are weakening their hold on the neck of this nation with every effort, however small it may seem from your perspective. So please be mindful of how discouraging words like Americans "won't" do that asskicking are.

We will, and we are doing that asskicking. Our efforts may not be as flashy as some would like them to be, but they ARE powerful, relentless, and effective.

See you all at the No Kings rallies on Saturday.

Individually we have little power. But As a collective we are the most powerful force of all against Fascism. That means we should use what power we have even if it doesn't seem very effective for short term gains. And we ARE doing that, we are not LETTING them get by with it. That whole attitude feels similar to someone saying that a woman "LET" her attacker assault her, when she fought with everything she had. It discounts the enormous effort that is being put forth by millions of Americans, as well as the value of that effort to the resistance. This is not instant soup. It takes time, but it IS working. Without individuals working to protect democracy, this regime would be much further along. No, we are not "ALLOWING" it as Tom Homan hoped we would. And we will not give up no matter what anyone thinks.

The fascists want to wear us down, destroy our joy in life which is a great wellspring of resilience. They want to discourage opposition and force us to think nothing matters and nothing will change because we're somehow powerless and irrelevant.

I don't believe in giving people like that what they want.

Is that the foundation of our version of democracy is based on gentleman's agreements and strongly worded memos.

We weren't able to hold him accountable back then, and still BROUGHT HIM BACK. This time, with SCOTUS blanket immunity.

Yes, we can vote later this year, but without the ability to hold him accountable for his CURRENT atrocities, it was always going to come down to the international community. His ego just kicked the wrong wasp nest.

Do we even have the mechanisms in place to force him to not cancel an election in war-not-war time? I'm hearing a lot of lawyers like Democracy Docket sounding alarms, indicating one fight after another - which is hardly reassuring.

He has to see fealty in everyone around him - cabinet meetings and international dealings. I like to think of his cabinet clomping around the White House in their ill-fitting Florsheim shoes.

You hit on an important point - the Middle East do not need him. In fact his son-in-law goes begging there.

Latest F*ck News poll has him at 41% approval. The bigger takeaway is that his disapproval rating in that poll is the highest it's ever been. But that 41% approval is also higher than other polls over the past couple months that showed him in the high 30s.

But on the world stage he's been bigly diminished with a steep decline coming from his Greenland ridiculousness. What a cornered rat he is.

$1b a day and untold lives lost aren't hurting him personally or financially. Without morals, ethics, empathy or a soul - taxpayer dollars and the lives of citizens and our servicemembers being lost is just a means to the end goal.

My brain wasn't connecting the dots. Who ever imagined the world taking Iran's word over our own IC and government? Who ever imagined our allies leaning into working with Iran rather than joining US efforts abroad?

You nailed it. Iran is doing something our pinky-swear version of democracy is incapable of - holding him accountable. SCOTUS punted on that, so the only thing left was it coming internationally and his insatiable ego went after the worst target imaginable.

At least they are showcasing our status as rogue nation celebrating war crimes. That needs to be cemented into the global psyche before the war crime trials begin at The Hague.
