the little no kings rally that could-

posted on fb by my great state rep-

A whole lot of amazing pics from damned near my favorite thing ever. When the first No Kings Rally was announced, a small group of folks in a senior building in my community decided that even though getting downtown to protest wasn’t an option, they’d do their own thing. And when the time came, they took themselves downstairs with signs and mobility devices and had their own protest. Last fall, they did it again, only with about 1500 of their friends and neighbors. It was amazing to see sidewalks full from Foster to beyond Berwyn, with folks using mobility devices front and center in a truly organic neighborhood protest. Today, we joined with easily 2000-2500 people who brought their amazing creativity to some truly clever signs.
Getting to spend these last two No Kings Days with the residents of The Breakers has been about the coolest thing I’ve ever gotten to do. This year, they partnered with residents’ groups in a few other buildings in the area to grow their involvement. It was such an amazing morning connecting with neighbors and sharing the story of how a handful of residents in a senior building who wanted a more accessible way to participate than downtown crowds would allow created the most perfect way to express joyful resistance.
This is what democracy looks like. My heart is full. Thank you to the residents of The Breakers for showing us.

seeing a lot of tiny events that prolly arent getting counted.

It's wonderful to read about the seniors not letting anything stop them from getting involved. This is how movements grow, little by little, person by person.

I find this very encouraging.

I was at a small town rally that had their first last October, about 100 people showed from surrounding areas too. This time it was about +30F with a stout breeze so not a larger turnout but a dedicated one. There was lady in a Handmaid's costume and someone with a Penzey's flag! Small but impressive crowd, mostly older but they were there. There was another further up the road that was having their first NO KINGS rally ever so it's spreading.

I was impressed at a picture I saw of Driggs, Idaho. That's some red country there and real small, last town you go through before you go over Teton Pass into Jackson Wyoming. Just a few hundred people there and they had a decent sized crowd.

The small towns are getting into it now. Some of the larger gatherings have also spread out. Talking to my sister earlier, said that last year it was just too concentrated at the harbor in San Diego so there were several spread out around the county and still the Harbor event was huge.

I have a good feeling about this.

that you could get a turnout like that because there are so many people in those high rise senior buildings.

Word probably spread and you know what they say about "word of mouth"....the best kind of advertising.
