The Republican Attack Upon the Right to Vote: Or How the 'SAVE' act might STEAL YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE
The SAVE Act and the Election Power Grab - The Brennan Center for Justice - The revived bill is a serious threat to voting rights.Make no mistake: The SAVE Act would stop millions of American citizens from voting. It would be the most restrictive voting bill ever passed by Congress. It is Trump’s power grab in legislative garb.
Effectively, the bill would require Americans to produce a passport or birth certificate to register and thus to vote. Brennan Center research shows that 21 million people lack ready access to these documents. Half of all Americans don’t have a passport, for example. and millions of married women who have changed their names might need to jump through extra hoops to vote.
And now we see how it fits into the broader strategy. In recent days, Trump has repeatedly demanded that Republicans “nationalize” the elections on behalf of his political party. Each time his aides try to clean up his remarks, he doubles down.

House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) warned that Republicans could manipulate voting machines to “create a false count” in the upcoming midterm elections.
Pelosi told MS NOW’s Ali Vitali in an interview that aired Tuesday that the Democratic Party is working to secure this election through litigation, legislation and communication with voters.
“But in addition to that, we have to be on guard as to what they may try to do to the technology. They may try to creep into the technology and create a false count,” she said, referring to Republicans.
