Trump unloaded on The New York Times in a scathing Truth Social rant on Monday over the publication's negative coverage of the Trump administration.
Trump's comments about the Times come as the administration faces significant scrutiny for its war in Iran. The Times has been highly critical of the war, and has published bombshell stories that undercut the administration's account. For instance, the outlet investigated a bombing of an Iranian girl's school that killed 175 civilians and determined it was likely that the U.S. hit the school. Trump officials have consistently denied the account.
Trump trashed the newspaper's coverage in a new Truth Social post.
"For those people that still read The Failing New York Times and, despite the fact that Iran has been totally OBLITERATED, Militarily, and otherwise, you would think that Iran is actually winning or, at the very least, doing quite well But thats not true, and The New York Times knows that its FAKE NEWS!" Trump raged. "When does this Corrupt Media Outlet apologize for their LIES and horrible actions against me, my supporters, and our Country itself! HAVE THEY NO SHAME? HAVE THEY NO SENSE OF DECENCY?"

(35 posts)...but DID this guy ever watch a war picture or tv show like Combat or Twelve O'Clock High where the units, sure a technological eternity ago, are spending weeks and months to destroy a single objective and sometimes not quite getting it. The first successful laser guided bomb strike didn't occur until 1972 in Vietnam. Even with these technologies the work of destroying mass concentrations of a modern armed force takes months or years. I thought his trivialization of the Ukrainian struggle was obvious indifference to their bold brave resistance not abject ignorance of the miraculous tenacity their resistance indicates. I'm glad Trump wasn't commander in chief in WWII...by NOW the USA would be invading the beaches of Dover while the Germans looked on in amusement from Normandy beach!

(196,754 posts)Have you no sense of decency? Sen. Joseph McCarthy is asked in hearing

In a dramatic confrontation, Joseph Welch, special counsel for the U.S. Army, lashes out at Senator Joseph McCarthy during hearings on whether communism has infiltrated the U.S. armed forces. Welchs verbal assaultincluding the enduring question "Have you no sense of decency?"marked the end of McCarthys power during the anticommunist hysteria of the Red Scare in America.
On June 9, 1954, McCarthy again became agitated at Welchs steady destruction of each of his arguments and witnesses. In response, McCarthy charged that Frederick G. Fisher, a young associate in Welchs law firm, had been a long-time member of an organization that was a legal arm of the Communist Party. Welch was stunned. As he struggled to maintain his composure, he looked at McCarthy and declared, Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness. It was then McCarthys turn to be stunned into silence, as Welch asked, Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last?
The audience of citizens and newspaper and television reporters burst into wild applause. Just a week later, the hearings into the Army came to a close. McCarthy, exposed as a reckless bully, was officially condemned by the U.S. Senate for contempt against his colleagues in December 1954. During the next two-and-a-half years McCarthy spiraled into alcoholism. Still in office, he died in 1957.
