Iran-Linked Ships Are Defying U.S. Blockade, BBC Data Shows
At least four Iran-linked tankers are going about their business in the Strait of Hormuz and at Iranian ports, defying a U.S. blockade of the country.
Tracking data reviewed by the BBC shows a bulk carrier named Christianna visited the Iranian port city of Bandar Imam Khomeini, then crossed the strait Monday. Elpis passed through the strait Monday night after calling on the Iranian port of Bushehr.
Two other ships that are under U.S. sanctions have also transited the strait in defiance of the blockade, per the BBC. One, Rich Starry, left the United Arab Emirates and sailed east Monday night. The other, Murlikishan, headed west through the strait after leaving a port in Lanshan, China.
Vice President JD Vance told Fox News yesterday the U.S. blockade is a proportionate response to Irans own blockade of Hormuz, which he described as economic terrorism.
