(3,966 posts)For you who are not in Virginia.
Virginia has about a zillion specialized license plates. Damn near anyone who can get together a few signatures and a pile of money can get a specialized license plate.
About a century ago an organization called "Sons of Confederate Veterans" applied for and were granted a Robert E. Lee specialized license plate. Part of the cost of the plate goes to the SCV.

Governor Spanberger signed a bill passed by the General Assembly wiping out the plate. Current holders of this license plate can keep them but they will not be renewed forcing them to get a normal plate. No new ones will be issued.
The SCV and other assholes are pissed.
