2. It'll be Becerra

As soon as Swalwell dropped, that's where all the corporate and lobbying powers went.

I'm not bitter. Just disappointed California cannot or will not do better than this. People complain about corporations, then rush out to vote in ways consonant with what the corporate class wants when there are alternatives sitting right there.

Personally, I'm fine. Great even. DINK household that already owns a house. I can chill in my enclave with my solar power and wave at all the people who voted for PG&E's continued fuckery.

But it'll be four years of whelming for the state where not much of not much changes. When I saw Becerra's "AI Vision for California" stuff, I cackled.

People are going to get precisely what they are voting for.

Ok, I'm a little bitter. Thanks, Porter. You proved me right.

Doesn't even matter if she did at this point. There's only a few days left, and many people have already sent their ballots.

My criticism of her has been mainly character based. I felt like she wouldn't play well with others.

Welp. For all her progressiveness, she watched the race narrow to a status quo or change choice, and she stayed in.

She's permanently lost my vote. For anything.

I'm not super clear or entirely trustful of my mail service, so I figured a five day buffer is sufficient.

Meta boosts Becerra as it begins mass layoffs, drawing fresh attacks from Steyer

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/meta-boosts-becerra-begins-mass-205208396.html

Meta contributed nearly $1 million to an effort to help elect Democrat Xavier Becerra governor on Tuesday on the eve of mass layoffs expected to affect roughly 8,000 employees.

The $950,000 check went toward an independent expenditure committee helping to elect Becerra rather than directly to the former state attorney general’s campaign. Still, Tom Steyer, his closest Democratic rival in the race to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom, seized on the news as proof that Becerra would be an ally to increasingly unpopular tech companies.

“Mark Zuckerberg wants a friend in Sacramento,” Steyer said, referencing Meta’s CEO and founder. “I won’t be.”

I'm not even entirely sold on Steyer even though I voted for him. He says plenty, but who's to say if he would have delivered. But I already know what Becerra is going to look like. It's going to look the same as it ever does in this state.

Can't wait to see those appointees to CPUC. They couldn't possibly be worse than what we've been getting. LOL, I'm kidding. It can totally get worse. PG&E didn't go all in for nothing.

Ah well. The nursing unions went for Steyer, so at least I'm comfortable going with my future people.

It sounds like you don't like Becerra.

Porter is still in the race, even though from your other posts, it sounds like you also aren't happy with her.

Steyer seems to be the last Democratic frontrunner, but given how you speak derisively of corporate money, surely you don't support a billionaire for the office...?

So who are you supporting?

A reluctant vote to be certain all things considered, but given the alternatives and their obvious issues, it is what it is.

It's safe to stand down from online loyalty testing in regards to me. I remain committed to the Party.

Might have to work on some of my friends, tho.

Although this is California. Nothing we do here matters.

And since I'm just about done with my BSN, I figured I'd hang with my people.

Given the transition from traditional mainstream media to social media, words from those in states that "do not matter" can still very much impact the actions of those in states that do.

And my post was from genuine curiosity since I could not follow your logic. So, I take it you are upset with Porter because you think her not withdrawing from the race is going to take away votes from Steyer, thius making it likely Becerra wins?

I'm from Illinois so my opinion doesn't really matter anyways. If you'd asked a few months ago I would've said Swalwell and we've seen how that turned out.

Jane Fonda is endorsing Steyer so that swayed my vote quite a bit. I highly value her opinion and she's worked very closely with him on various issues.
