Damn. $3.929 gas. Richmond VA. Am I supposed to be happy about that?

Friday I thought I saw it was $4.56. Yesterday across the river in Chesterfield we got gas at $4.05.

I’m driving out to my folks in the Shenandoah Valley so I thought I’d wait until I got out there. I had 130 miles in the tank.

I saw $3.92 on my way out. I was actually shocked.
Filled up. 450 miles in my 10 gallon tank now.

2 or 3 USD per US gallon prices are earth climate-smashingly low. The demand for giant petrol-guzzling trucks and SUVs in the US is diabolical. Auto culture there is so fucked up (by design). I lived in Los Angeles, so I have seen it firsthand. It is even worse now with the rise of the anti-EV Trumpian (and Rethug-in-general) mindset.

I couple of those trucks drove around for a few minutes in our village center. Yeah, we had those types in Maryland. You get west and north of Frederick, it’s pretty redneck. Taneyville is named after Roger Taney of Dred Scot fame. I think they still worship him in that area.

6. Taneytown, Maryland? It was founded 82 years before Roger Taney joined SCOTUS. It was named after Raphael Taney.

Taneytown is a city in Carroll County, Maryland, United States. The population was 7,234 at the 2020 census. Taneytown was founded in 1754. Of the city, George Washington once wrote, "Tan-nee town is but a small place with only the Street through wch.(sic) the road passes, built on. The buildings are principally of wood." Taneytown has a history museum that displays the history of the city for visitors and citizens to see. The Bullfrog Road Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Taneytown was founded in 1754 and became the seat of Taneytown Hundred in colonial Frederick County. Taneytown takes its name from Raphael Taney, a recipient of one of the first land grants in the area, though Taney likely never lived in the city that bears his name. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Roger Brooke Taney, author of the Dred Scott decision, born in 1777, shares a common ancestor with him, but likely never visited the town or had any connection. When Carroll County was formed on 19 January 1837, Taneytown Hundred and Taneytown were included.

8. 4.79 here, down from 4.99 last week. I am still bracing for the big one. I expect much worse going forward.

I top off my gas tank when it gets before half full and it’s about $35-40.

I paid $4.499 this morning, with my Circle K saver card.
And, that's down a quarter since early last week.
Under $4 would please me & irritate me at the same time.
