I have a particular uncle that was Democratic. Then Barack Obama announced his bid for presidency.

This particular uncle started receiving and sending out these awful and untrue emails about Barack Obama.

In summary, I honestly didn't know who Barack Obama was. My uncle sent me these hateful emails about a man who's name I couldn't pronounce.

I started debunking these emails. The more I learned about Barack Obama the more I liked him. I liked him so much that I voted for him. Twice!

I don't believe that's what this particular uncle wanted or what he was attempting to accomplish.

No matter what the MAGA haters do to this country. He will always have been President. They can't take that away from him or us.

I've always voted Democratic but I never really paid attention to politics until Barack Obama came along.

I'm not sure if I can put into words about the man but articulate, compassionate, and quick-witted comes to mind for me.

I don't have anything against our other Democratic Presidents or Democratic Congress but there's something about him that stands out for me...not sure if I could ever be able to put into words.

They didn't hate him JUST because of his skin color -- they hated him because he was a Person of Color who, in their eyes, didn't know his PLACE!
We are now seeing that mentality throughout the Federal government. They are systematically weeding out qualified people who are in positions of power, but whose only 'flaw' is their skin color (as well as women, gays, and trans folks).
When they ended segregation in the school systems in the South, the STUDENTS were integrated, but generally NOT the teachers and Principals. Having a Person of Color in a position of authority over WHITE children was a bridge too far! The former teachers and Principals of the black schools were usually left without jobs. I know of one case where a former Principal fought it in court, and won -- the school, forced to hire him, put him over the transportation department, so that he wouldn't have to be in a position of authority over any white children.

Instruct all GOP members to obstruct any progress that Barack Obama made because they wanted to make him a one term President.

This wasn't revealed until much later to the public. A now retired GOP member named Chaffee confirmed this information. I don't remember the first name. If I happen to remember later I'll edit this and insert his first name.

I don't understand how a racist mind or mind set works so I don't understand it either.

Edit: The name of the confirmation of obstructing President Obama was Jason Chaffetz.

my nephew, who was his liason to jsoc for a yr. he was a dyed in the wool republican, despite coming from a pretty die hard dem family. he was an army lifer, from jr rotc to a 20 yr celebrated career. his retirement video was full of rw “luminaries”. bushie jr, wolfewitz, rove. he was a golden boy.
but in his yr in that wh, he came to greatly respect obama.

which is to say, it’s funny how getting up close and personal w ppl of color wears down the edges.
i was raised in a lily white small town, tho in a family where the color of someone’s skin was never even mentioned. i raised my kids in the big city, cuz i never wanted them to fall into the stupid trap of discounting other humans over nothing.

How grounding it would be when a president has a successful day with some policy or law or speech or whatever, the kind of day when they break out the champagne, and then he or she sits down at night and reads a letter from someone who's hurting, or wants to say thank you for some small thing that was life-changing for them that the government did, and just wants the president's ear for a few minutes.

I'm mapping out a road trip and trying to get a couple of friends to go with.

The plan is to be tourists in Chicago (you know, the town that all fox viewers are afraid of!) and visit the Obama Presidential Center. And to eat some good food.
