Poor Scott Bessent is confused and has a question for Democrats

At his hearing today:" The state of our economy is strong. I defy this side of the aisle (Democrats) to tell me what's wrong with this economy."

So maybe some of you have an answer for poor, confused Scott who just can't seem to understand what is wrong with the economy and why everyone is so upset.

Seriously though, good point about the filling up the gas tank and buying groceries. I'm sure he has "people" for that.

That's three metrics right there. Now I know, I know, it's not how the billionaires or the Dow are doing, but I'm pretty sure there are other ways to measure the economy, Scotty.

Such blatantly partisan cheerleading against all available evidence.

I wonder if we're in a recession if you ignore the wealth extraction being done by the "magnificent seven"....

Net Worth (Approx) $600 million (as of April 2026)

This 👆🏼is what is wrong with the economy.

Some people are doing without necessary medication and healthcare, dental needs and food.

And then, there are the Scott Bessents of the world.

9. Yeah, on average we're all wealthy, Mr. Bessent.

The top 1% own about 32% of all U.S. wealth, the top 10% own more than 68% of all U.S. wealth, while the bottom 50% of all American households hold only about 2.5% of the nation's wealth. Put Elon Musk in a room with 900,000 average Americans and everyone in that room...on average...would be worth a million dollars. The problem, Mr. Bessent, is the incredible wealth disparity that exists in this country, created and perpetuated by people like you over the last few decades.

By the way, does anyone know the best way to prepare something called a rump steak? It was the only affordable beef at the store. Maybe Scott could share a recipe or two. Sorry Scott, nothing with caviar, chef says we're out of it.

12. Bessent Real Estate
Thu Jun 4, 2026, 03:59 PM

Per Realtor.com…

Since the 1990s, Bessent has bought and sold more than $127 million worth of U.S. real estate, including at least 20 properties in his native South Carolina, New York, Florida and elsewhere. Bessent, 62, has a penchant for historic homes, often restoring and living in the properties he buys. In Manhattan, he has lived in storied prewar buildings such as the Dakota, 1 Sutton Place South and 720 Park Avenue. His other purchases have ranged from a beach house in Provincetown, Mass., to a country home in the North Carolina mountains. Bessent also has a home in London and owns property in Lyford Cay, a private community in the Bahamas

One of Bessent’s most recent transactions involved the sale of a stunning pink historical home in Charleston that sold for $18 million dollars.

I don’t think Scott Bessent is worried about the price of eggs - or pretty much anything else.

is that he is willing to say it on camera with that stupid, "earnest" expression. Hope the Dems use this clip well in the midterms.

To me, Bessent’s stupid, earnest expression is more of an insufferable smirk. It could be a nervous smirk, but it’s a smirk nonetheless. The first word that comes to mind when I think of Bessent’s is ‘effete’.
