I saw a short on Youtube about a station in Fort Myers, FL, being out of diesel.

(72,879 posts)... they are nothing more than a chemistry set, with modular, multiple use components.
We export more oil than two or three other countries - someone is buying huge amounts of US oil and processing it.

(56,118 posts)A couple days ago there was a post on DU about Costco, can't keep their gas tanks filled (they sell 30 cents below the other stations).

(4,909 posts)Not sure why, but the tell is the plastic bags put over the the pump handle.
A couple of months ago, a DUer posted an article by someone who was predicting this, but if I recall, many of the comments were along the lines of oh this person is exaggerating. Now, a few months later, the warning signs are becoming more visible. Don't know how bad it may get, but if our repuke politicians keep on this path of doing nothing, it's going to be at least as bad as the energy crisis of the 1970's.

(37,646 posts)On the other hand, they were on one pump and the one facing the other way on the same little 'island' was working fine. As were the others. I can't believe that each pump as its own underground tank so when the bag says 'out of order' that's what I've had to assume really was the case.
Otherwise, no gas stations out of gas. (Although I did see $3.49 for the lowest price on Thursday, and the one place that reached $4.09 on the freeway is down to $3.79.)
Diesel don't pay much attention to.
