(2,343 posts)Same crap is happening to baseball. Remember when sports were for regular people and the love of the game instead of a bloody moneymaking scheme for the owners? What happens when the average fan just throws up their hands and decides theres gotta be something better to spend their time and money on--which leaves us with what, exactly? Spending our every waking moment making them money in jobs we hate that dont even pay enough to cover basic necessities of life?
I dont think theyre thinking this through
When they price sports out of the range of fans, whobesides the oligarchsis going to be around to generate the income to sustain the team payrolls and expenses? There are fewer and fewer sporting events available even on TV, unless fans can afford luxuries like subscriptions (even when you get the basic MLB app, they make you pay double to be able to watch pre- and post-season games, which pisses me off). Is that a sustainable business model? Whats the motivation to be fans when we cant afford to follow a team?
Im thinking someone needs to remind them what happened in the French Revolution when the downtrodden decided anarchy and guillotines were the way to get their attention and make some changes
