This week, a helicopter. Next week, it'll be a missile strike on some airfield that has nothing on it but our name, etc.

(19,713 posts)Trumps social media post came in stark contrast to his optimism Tuesday morning that a peace agreement with Tehran could be reached within days. The president told reporters that 'were in the final throes of what will be a very, very good deal.' " - Politico
Yeah, it looks like Trump's "very, very good deal" really is in its "final throes."
I don't think Trump knows what the phrase "final throes" actually means. It refers to "the last, intensely difficult, and often painful stages of a struggle or the end of a process right before it collapses, fails, or comes to an end."

WASHINGTON The F-15 fighter that was shot down over southwestern Iran last month and set off a dangerous rescue mission was probably struck by a Chinese-made shoulder-launched missile, three people with knowledge of the matter told NBC News.
In the early days of the conflict, China also may have provided Iran with a long-range early-warning radar that spots stealth aircraft that are meant to evade detection, according to one of the people and a U.S. official with knowledge of the matter.

(2,023 posts)President Donald Trump blamed Iran for shooting down a U.S. Army helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday and said the United States must respond to the attack.
In the first known operation of its kind by the American military, a drone boat rescued the two aviators who were aboard the Apache attack helicopter when it went down near the critical shipping lane that Iran has effectively closed during its war with the U.S. and Israel.
Trump said in a social media post that military officials told him the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache Helicopters. He added that both service members are safe and uninjured.
Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack, Trump wrote.

(6 posts)It could have been a shoulder fired missile which are able to be used by 1 person, easily concealed in a truck bed, and cheap (compared to most other weapons). I don't know what altitude the helicopter was at but it may not have had much warning or time to try and evade it.
