Why I believe in Progressivism, at least by my own definition
When the Declaration of Independence was written, one of it's justifications was the notion of creating a "MORE perfect union"
Things at the time were not as good as the could be, at least to men of good character.
Jefferson wrote, knowing that in practice it was far from true: All Men Are Created Equal.
And so a perpetual quest was started, to make the nation as perfect as circumstance and time could make it.
THAT(!) is the CORE OF PROGRESSIVISM: It is the long quest in the face of impossible odds to make the nation ever more socially perfect
It is really hard to see the quest for dominance in campaign money, or the quest for domination by demographics as, by themselves PROGRESSIVE. Only in so much as campaign money and demographic dominance in gerrymandered districts moves the nation as a whole toward being more socially perfect is progress truly made.
And it must be said that Progress may NOT stand the test of time, without unending effort to protect aginst regressive revisionism of the type we see by majorities on the Robert's Court.
I'm old, I can't really be of much help to you in your prime seeking a return of belief in the promise of progressivism. But in this 4th or 5th iteration of my existence on this website, I promise to do my best to support posts with PROGRESSIVE themes and those who post them
I'm no hero, I'm an old 31J20B3, which is to say a member of an army of Electronic Spies who held a Top Secret/Crypto Access clearance to repair specialized equipment connected to cryptographic equipment. I swore to be true to the Constitution, and that still is my intent.
Thanks for the latest chance.
