Donald Trump has gone all-in on a massive fight night to ring in the semiquincentennial of the United States of America.
While critics have argue that something like baseball or basketball would have been a far better choice since theyre distinctly American sports it evidently might not matter, because Mother Nature seems to have her own opinions about the affair. This week, the US National Weather Service released a heat advisory for Washington DC, directly threatening the debut of Trumps beloved UFC arena, currently situated on the White House lawn.
Per the weather alert, the heat index in DC next week could reach as high as 107 degrees Fahrenheit far more than the average of 85, and well above the standing record of 98.
Fueled by scorching Sun and oppressive humidity, that kind of heat could spell disaster for the prize fight. According to the Arizona Department of Health Services Heat Index Chart, sunstroke, heat cramps, and heat exhaustion are likely under those conditions, while heat stroke is possible with prolonged exposure or physical activity exactly what happens when two fighters are slugging it out.

He seems to like death, so if any of the fighters expire that will give him an extra thrill.

(38,976 posts)The forecast on my iPhone is for LOWER temperatures than today (its currently 95-97). The range is mid 70s to mid 80s. However, there is a chance of rain each day.
The 105 heat index is for TODAY. From the site the author linked:
DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight
A Heat Advisory is in effect until 8 PM today. Heat index values
will be around 105 degrees.
A Severe Thunderstorms Watch is in effect for most of the area
until 9 PM this evening. Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds
are the primary threat.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday
The chance of thunderstorms is increasing for Sunday afternoon
and evening. Some of these storms may also be severe.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters have been activated this afternoon and evening. Spotters
may need to be activated Sunday.

From what I can see, the fights are scheduled for Sunday only, so not sure why the author is talking about next weeks forecast.
Its supposed to be 89-91 Saturday and Sunday, with chances of rain.

(42 posts)pointing out that the headline is absolutely moronic. These are world class athletes. No one is going to "collapse in the heat"

(12,203 posts)Now, I'm looking at the partial pavilion they erected and it sure doesn't seem really secure against a good blowing thunderstorm or even just a good hard rain. To be seated along the outer edges will be an adventure in itself. Then add in 125,000 spectators who will be sharing 500 porta-a-potties that have been percolating in the hot sun all day...Oh Joy! Oh Joy!
I'm not interested in the fights themselves, but might just tune in to see the aesthetics of dealing with the venue. This could be a real knee-slapper to see how the attendees - especially the D.C. ladies in all their finery - navigate a potentially stinky, sloppy night outside.
