I designed and created my sign for No Kings today...

I am an artist/illustrator so I put a lot of time and thought into my art. The sign is double-sided, 3-D and is for Sat.'s protest and looks like this...

It is 2-sided (all my signs are...more bang for the buck) and on the one side is my standard "tRump's face behind prison bars", recycled from 2017..an oldie but a goodie. I have made earrings with this image that I designed in 2016 (and hand made bumper stickers) with that image and I have received tons of compliments over the years

Side 1. tRumps head is crowned, of course, and it is pasted onto tRump's head, which wears a Hitler hair-do, mustache, big, red clown nose, and a 3' long red tie with the purposeful "tape" shown on the back side (he DID get photographed with tale on his tie instead of a tie-clip)

I have saved and recycled some old signs and have quite a portfolio.

Side 2. I made a 3-D tombstone with "Donald Trump 1946- 2026" on it with a small Satan Pentagram at the top. It's underneath blue skies and clouds and a huge rainbow with the word HOPE written above the rainbow and tombstone.

*** The problem is is that I am a serious protester (over 36 between 2016-2020, 2024-current) and I want to hear the speakers and need to be in the very front so that I can near them and "woo-hoo" them. I go alone so that I can weave through the crowds and be in the front and I walk FAST. My signs are very popular but I do not like to stop and let someone take a photo...it slows me down. During the Oct No Kings over 80,000 people marched in San Diego so it's been getting more and more difficult to maneuver through such huge crowds without my signs getting noticed (one is even at a local Women's Museum, they asked if I'd donate it. I did but ended up making a 2nd one (they are complete with the Mommie Dearest 3-D coat hanger theme).

I don't know how to successfully post photos of my signs even though very kind DUers have guided me through the process. I am a 100% tech moron and doing anything like that is beyond my skills.

Slow down when at the protest.

Let people see your sign and take it all in and enjoy it.

Let them take pictures so your posters get more attention.
You do good work and people need to see your signs and let them sink in.
And take pictures so others can see them too. Send them far and wide.

The posters are very effective communication tools and you are downplaying them too much
by not slowing down, not letting people talk to you, not letting people take pictures.

You can still get to the front of the crowd to hear the speakers.

I think I'm going alone this year, though I expect to see a pretty large turnout in this super conservative district. Last year I injured my shoulder from holding protests signs in the wind. I'm going to try to rig the sign so the handle sits in a fanny pack on my hip--or else I'll sit in a chair and hold the sign in front of me. I went 6 months pain and without full use of my shoulder. I have to figure out something better than last year.

I think for my art--which sucks-- I'll just copy some images from the web and ModPodge them onto the poster board. I am partial to a sign that says, "Don't talk about "illegals" if you voted for a felon". And "Fear Dictatorship, not diversity!" But I also want to put something in there to protest the war. I'll take any ideas offered!

So many good ones. It’s going to be fun, but cold, here tomorrow.

side 1: Radicalized by common decency (which I found here on DU)

side 2: Fuck Trump

obviously not common decency!

I wish DU used an easier method. I have no problems on other sites. But then again, we would probably be inundated with all sorts of pictures … like going to somebody’s house for an evening and having to sit through slides of their vacation to Iowa to see all their grandkids.
