While protecting democracy, protect yourself from dangers of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Heat exhaustion while protesting can happen to the most badass of us resistance fighters, so if you're going to be outside to protest/rally for longer than 10 minutes, please be smart. I wasn't, recently, but thanks to my awesome, wonderful fellow resisters I am fine. It's humbling, damnit, to realize you're not so tough or young as you once were. No extra points or bragging rights if you end up in the ER. Okay, so:

1. Eat something before you go! Even if you're not hungry, low blood sugar, dehydration and heat can drop you quick.

2. Carry water with you, and drink before you're thirsty.

3. Take a stool or seat of some kind to sit on, if you know you might be standing long.

4. Wear a hat, and loose clothing.

5. If you get dizzy or nauseous, don't wait! Sit down so you don't fall down. Hydrate, and tell people around you that you might need help. Take time to recover as needed.
