White House withdraws Dr. Janette Nesheiwat's surgeon general nomination after credential discrepancies surface

The White House has withdrawn President Trump's nomination of Dr. Janette Nesheiwat for U.S. surgeon general, the office of Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont confirmed Wednesday.
Her confirmation hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, where Sanders is the ranking member, had been scheduled for Thursday.
The withdrawal follows questions about how she has portrayed her education and credentials on social media and in past media appearances.
In one example, Nesheiwat's public profile on Linkedin listed an M.D. degree from the University of Arkansas, when she actually received her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten.

(27,929 posts)and say that those discrepancies would take anyone out of the running. The difference between the University of Arkansas Medical School, and the American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten isn't just a typo. So that's a degree of dishonesty that is way out there.
I wonder how many other American doctors who attended non-U.S. medical schools also lie about where they got their MD?

Apparently, it was not until Laura Loomer came out against this candidate that Trump decided she needed to go, so there are some interesting dynamics for sure...

(69,899 posts)people go who want to be a doc & can't get into American med schools.
My daughter was once pre-med & had 4 roommates who also were.
That was the target app if all else failed because just about anybody could get admitted, at least at that time in mid-2000s.

The University of Arkansas verified that Nesheiwat completed her residency there, but was not granted a degree.
On Sunday, conservative activist Laura Loomer posted to X that she opposed Neshewiat's confirmation because of her support for COVID-19 vaccines during the pandemic. The news of her withdrawal was first reported by Bloomberg News.

(18,411 posts)their actions destroy the faith and goodwill of the Democratic government and fulfill the plutocratic government. Much like what happened to Russia when Putin was elected. Selling all the public owned facilities to his buddies. It did not take long before they became oligarchs themselves.

In the most dramatic way.
Edit: I misspelled unqualified as qualified. But it is the same in this case. Trump choosing the most unqualified person for the position, but qualified if indeed he (Miller) is trying for the most unqualified.
