Trump sending National Guard to LA in response to anti-ICE protests

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Lasher (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: NBC Los Angeles

An lawful assembly was declared after a group of protesters refuse to disperse following a clash with federal agents along Alondra Boulevard. Amber Frias reports for the NBC4 News on June 7, 2025.

After the Department of Homeland Security’s widespread and public crackdown on Los Angeles’ immigration communities this week, federal officials were mobilizing some 2,000 National Guard soldiers to response to protests.

The White House confirmed Saturday that President Donald Trump has signed a directive to deploy 2,000 National Guardsmen to address "the lawlessness."

"The Trump Administration has a zero tolerance policy for criminal behavior and violence, especially when that violence is aimed at law enforcement officers trying to do their jobs," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

unprecedented. Everything surrounding this loser is unprecedented. Now that he knows what an insurrection is, he's also calling out that card too. As if it wasn't bad enough that Musk called him out too. What a fucking disaster.

I am really fearing as to what will be left in 3.5 years.

From duck duck go search engine:

The U.S. border zone, particularly the 100-mile border enforcement zone, allows Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents to conduct searches and detain individuals without a warrant or probable cause. This zone encompasses a significant portion of the U.S. population and includes major cities, where federal agents have broader authority compared to other law enforcement agencies.

https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/border-zone] Check out the map and wake up to the fact that this zone has been in effect for many MANY years.

The Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects people from random and arbitrary stops and searches. Although the federal government claims the power to conduct certain kinds of warrantless stops within 100 miles of the U.S. border, important Fourth Amendment protections still apply. This helps you understand your rights within the 100-mile border zone.

Here in AZ, we have been dealing with Border Patrol Checkpoints, miles north of the Mexican border, for decades now. I can't get to Tucson for shopping or medical care without going thru one.

Most of the nation has no idea and yet most US citizens live within the zone and can be subject to road blocks/checks.

And those are different than a President calling up the national guard to states that the governor hasn't called them. CBD has nowhere near the amount nor arms the National Guard has.

and most Americans live within the zones where it can be enforced. We down here in the Borderlands need to hop on our ponies and call out "The Fascists are ALREADY here" because people are just plain unaware.

If California doesn't fight it, Chump will play the same card everywhere.

remember what Newark, Detroit and Watts looked like. Crumb The 1st and his people have been itching to shoot people for a long time. There is no doubt the danger that comes with that size of a deployment and with undercover Federal agents infiltrating and provoking things to happen.

But we know he's not going after areas where the actual gang bangers do their drug trade. He's going after the citizens who dared to vote for Biden. He hates us and wants to hurt or kill a lot of us.

I don't understand how is he able to activate the national guard? I thought that the national guard was to protect the state that they are in from the government taking over? I'm confused I was taught that in high school and some in college that's why I don't understand how is he is able to activate the California national guard to go against its own state and People. I realized that they also do help in times of disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic type stuff. Is it legal to do that?

Look up US Border Protection Zone and be amazed at what has been possible for decades. About 2/3 of the US population lives within that 100 mile zone at national borders AND coastlines, and searches on road ways well within the US have been a thing for decades. And there are plans to expand that band, which goes around the nation, land borders and coastlines, to 200 miles

It's not DEM vs GOP, it's sane verses criminally abusive.

although the LAPD and probably the National Guard will collect most of the lumps as ICE is nowhere to be found.

Still, the only language a bully understands is a bloody nose, physical or metaphorical. I hope this modifies their behavior.
