Newsom Requests Trump Admin Return National Guard Control to California

Source: Newsweek

California Governor Gavin Newsom has formally requested Trump administration officials to rescind the order to deploy the National Guard and return control of the force to California, calling the initial order unlawful and "intentionally designed to inflame the situation."

Posting on X, Newsom wrote: "I have formally requested the Trump Administration rescind their unlawful deployment of troops in Los Angeles county and return them to my command."

"We didn't have a problem until Trump got involved. This is a serious breach of state sovereignty — inflaming tensions while pulling resources from where they're actually needed," Newsom wrote. "Rescind the order. Return control to California."
...
" There is currently no need for the National Guard to be deployed in Los Angeles, and to do so in this unlawful manner and for such a lengthy. Serious breach of state sovereignty that seems intentionally designed to inflame the situation, while simultaneously depriving the state from deploying these personnel and resources where they are truly required," Newsom added.

Bluesky post with the letter:

Governor Newsom: "I have formally requested the Trump Administration rescind their unlawful deployment of troops ... and return them to my command.

... This is a serious breach of state sovereignty — inflaming tensions while pulling resources from where they’re actually needed."

To be clear, I am on Newsom's side, and California's.

Agolf $Hitler sent his goons to try and take over my hometown during his last reign of error and they were driving around in unmarked vans, snatching random people off the street.

Trump won't back down. It would be TACO-ish to back down. Who's running the country?

No offense to any militia types of course but it seems to me this is the exact kind of thing they have all thought would happen one day no matter who was in charge.

A President can take control of any state National Guard. It wasn't always like this though.

I'd sure like to hear some legal expert opinions on this situation.

of the National Guard over.

The fact that he can get away with citing "emergencies" over and over again without ever having to define them is one of the greatest flaws in how this country functions, and there are many.
