Donald Trump warns 'we are going to have troops everywhere' after ICE protests
Source: The Daily Express
President Donald Trump warned there will be "troops everywhere" when asked if he will take more action if protests, like those in LA, continue to rage.
In a directive Saturday, Trump invoked a legal provision allowing him to deploy federal service members when there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.
"We are going to have troops everywhere," Trump said after touching down on Air Force One in New Jersey on Sunday. "We are not going to let this happen to our country."

On Saturday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids intensified in the area following demonstrations at a federal detention center, where police used tear gas and flash-bangs and detained a union leader.
Border Patrol agents donned riot gear and gas masks as they stood watch outside an industrial park in Paramount, releasing tear gas among the crowd of onlookers and demonstrators who lined the sidewalks, some heckling the officers while filming the scene on their phones.

Step One: Take over the biggest city in the most populus state.
Step Two: Have your "border czar" arrest the governor and/or mayor if they get in the way.
Repeat for each Blue state.
Having a huge military parade to celebrate yourself.

(15,941 posts)They need to all be speaking up in specific terms right now. Speaking up, and speaking up loudly!!!! Yes, I understand that their comments will fall on many deaf ears, but SOMEONE needs to be addressing the illegality of what he's doing with the military.

(328 posts)When Obama was President there was a military exercise planned in Louisiana and Texas. There was an explosion of far right heads who accused Obama of a secret plot to invade Texas, etc. Among other things it was described as a "psychological operation aimed at getting people used to seeing military forces on the streets" and would be used to "stockpile supplies for Chinese troops who will be arriving to disarm Americans". A lot of it was vintage Alex Jones.
Now Trump is actually doing something worse than the whacky conspiracy theorists could imagine. Deploying National Guard troops against the objection of the Governor of California who said it is an illegal act, an immoral act, an unconstitutional act.

You may think I'm silly, but I truly believe that they will use that as an excuse.

He wrongly assumed being in the White House was the lifeboat that would take him to safety. He was wrong and he sees that now. Gonna hide behind the military people he has long disparaged and screws over when they are out of the service and need healthcare.
Screw him & the delusions he relies on.

(13,182 posts)In this case "civil" will not be its usual "courteous and polite" meaning, which is way we've been responding.
Rather it will meet the very definition of "civil war":

(13,182 posts)When martial law is in effect, the military commander of an area or country has unlimited authority to make and enforce laws.
Martial law is justified when civilian authority has ceased to function, is completely absent, or has become ineffective. Further, martial law suspends all existing laws, as well as civil authority and the ordinary administration of justice.
In the United States, martial law may be declared by proclamation of the President or a State governor, but such a formal proclamation is not necessary. Although the U.S. Constitution makes no specific provision for the imposition of martial law, nearly every State has a constitutional provision authorizing the government to impose martial law.
The power of martial law, once held to be nearly absolute, has limitations; for example, civilians may not be tried by military tribunals as long as civilian courts are functional. Nonetheless, within the bounds of court decisions, a military commander's authority under martial law is virtually unlimited. Martial law has been declared nine times since World War II and, in five instances, was designed to counter resistance to Federal desegregation decrees in the South.
Although a climate of mutual aid has always existed between the military and civilian law enforcement and should continue to exist, Department of Defense personnel are limited in what they can do to enforce civil law. Military personnel cannot be used in surveillance or undercover operations, and they may not be used as informants, investigators, or interrogators unless the investigation is a joint military-civilian operation in which the military has an interest in the case's outcome.

(78 posts)Logistical nightmare. Trump would have to contract/commandeer a lot of civilian resources, which would make them unavailable to civilians. Also, national guard troops have day jobs. Deploying most of the national guard/reserve combined with deporting immigrants would cause a tremendous labor shortage, which could cause inflation and shortages. If active duty personnel deployed, then demand would be depressed in base communities which could cause layoffs by businesses near bases.
