US shifts military resources in Mideast in response to Israel strikes and possible Iran attack

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States is shifting military resources, including ships, in the Middle East in response to Israel’s strikes on Iran and a possible retaliatory attack by Tehran, U.S. officials said Friday.

The Navy has directed the destroyer USS Thomas Hudner, which is capable of defending against ballistic missiles, to begin sailing from the western Mediterranean Sea toward the eastern Mediterranean and has directed a second destroyer to begin moving forward so it can be available if requested by the White House.

American fighter jets also are patrolling the sky in the Middle East to protect personnel and installations, and air bases in the region are taking additional security precautions, officials said. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to provide details not yet made public or to discuss ongoing operations. President Donald Trump was meeting with his National Security Council principals Friday to discuss the situation.

The forces in the region have been taking precautionary measures for days, including having military dependents voluntarily depart regional bases, in anticipation of the strikes and to protect personnel in case of a large-scale response from Tehran.

Do you think he'll listen to the National Security Council.
He thinks he knows what he's doing because he's better than all of the experts...

"The Pentagon notified Congress last week that it will be diverting critical anti-drone technology that had been allocated for Ukraine to US Air Force units in the Middle East, according to correspondence obtained by CNN and people familiar with the matter.

The move reflects the US’ shifting defense priorities under President Donald Trump – toward the Middle East and the Pacific – and the fact that US stockpiles of some defense components are becoming increasingly stretched.

The technology, proximity fuzes for the rockets Ukraine uses to shoot down Russian drones, was redirected from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) to Air Force Central Command on orders from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, according to the correspondence dated May 29 and sent to the Senate and House Armed Services committees.

USAI is a Defense Department funding program that was established in 2014, when Russia first invaded eastern Ukraine and annexed Crimea. It authorizes the US government to buy arms and equipment for Ukraine directly from US weapons manufacturers. The proximity fuzes were originally purchased for Ukraine but were redirected to the Air Force as a “Secretary of Defense Identified Urgent Issue,” the correspondence says..."

Maybe im grasping at straws in hope of some ethereal upside. But if Iran is at war with Israel, might that interrupt the supply of Iranian munitions or drones to the Russian war effort due to Iran needing them for their own use? Or even, if Israel expands their attacks, destruction of some of their manufacturing capacity?

Yep – the lawless, unnecessary war Trump was afraid to start during his first term.

Nothing like a war in the ME to deflect attention from your failed, unpopular ‘administration.’
