Exclusive: US Marines carry out first known detention of civilian in Los Angeles, video shows

Source: Associated Press

LOS ANGELES/WASHINGTON, June 13 (Reuters) - Marines deployed to Los Angeles temporarily detained a civilian on Friday, the U.S. military confirmed after being presented with Reuters images, in the first known detention by active-duty troops deployed there by President Donald Trump.

The incident took place at the Wilshire Federal Building in Los Angeles where Marines took charge of the mission to protect the building earlier on Friday, in a rare domestic use of U.S. troops after days of protests over immigration raids.

Reuters images showed Marines apprehending a civilian, restraining his hands with zip ties and then handing him over to civilians from the Department of Homeland Security.

Asked about the incident, the U.S. military's Northern Command spokesperson said active duty forces "may temporarily detain an individual in specific circumstances."

The Reich will normalize it and the non-engaged voter will simply rationalize this as the fault of the detained.

will normalize it and everyone will watch and go about their day. Ho-hum. The victims will be crucified again and again, and the poisoned public will wave their flags. U.S.A.!! Meanwhile wealthy white people can break no law.

This is the 4th Reich.

It's just that its not under Hitler's Nazi's -, It's under Shitler's MAGAs

Same shit different country. Same shit same kind of people.

We are fucked for the next several years and even if we manage to vote them away, the damage is done. America's place in the world had taken a serious hit. The country's democracy is in tatters and the bureaucracy that was built to sustain is has already been destroyed.

It will take a generation to rebuild.

The United States of America is still in a constant state of rebuilding but we used to be too.

Indeed damage has been inflicted.

While I do not look forward to the ongoing conflict, neither am I experiencing a sense of despair.

Quite the opposite.

I'm continuing to experience a great sense of resolve.
I'm continuing to see life as it is, embrace what I love and discard the rest.

Life is too short to let the bastards get me down.

I'll seize my day regardless and laissez les bon temps rouler!

proves the truth of it. But here's another truth... for better or for worse, the people of this country (maybe even more than others) do NOT like being told what or what not to do. In fact, the more it is demanded the more the people will rebel. It truly is written in our DNA. It's how our country became a country. Up until now, it was only the side of evil that showed that side of themselves to the world. Now, the axis is turning... and it's the good people of the U.S. who are standing up and saying I will not obey! All those recommendations of not obeying before being asked? They hold true... and are even more so when the "requests" become demands.

When was the last time someone who had no authority over you told you to do something and you respectfully answered yes, sir! Right away! And did not feel a sense of betrayal, anger, and desire to do just the opposite? I don't think I'm alone in this feeling. Like I said, I believe it's part of our DNA. Its what allowed us to say "No Kings" in the very beginning of the country. The fact the other side reads no history or at all... or only "sanitized" history is gonna work to their disfavor.

A US Marine detaining a US citizen on American soil.

I doubt any charges will be pursued.
Trump would pardon the Marines any way.

I am glad my career USAF father is not alive to see this.
He always said the AF signed his paycheck, but he worked for the American people.
He would refuse to detain or arrest an American on American soil.

now have the authority to arrest, and detain or worse--send someone off to a prison not to be heard of again--or at least for LONG time without your family knowing where you are or if you are ill or --dead!! It is becoming the normal in the USA!---not for all. I hope the protests tomorrow wake some people up to what is going on!! But that depends on the media to a great degree--will it be filled with trumps parade images or the images of I hope MASSIVE, peaceful parades.

3 white guys with guns and uniforms. We know how this was going to go. By the way the goon with a smirk on his face on the right is an obvious nicotine addict since in this supposedly awful situation where they are in fear he takes the time for a casual smoke while shining his attitude at the man in zip ties.

and there never has ever been a need for the USMC (the Turd's Wehrmacht) to be 'arresting' protestors exercising constitutionally protected First Amendment Speech and Assembly rights. The USMC has disgraced itself by wrongfully obeying the illegal "orders" of some wannbe Dictator. I had thought that American soldiers were made of "tougher" stuff than this genuflection to a criminally corrupt Fascist Asshole.
