Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen activates National Guard ahead of statewide immigration protests

Source: Nebraska Examiner

Heartland protests come against backdrop of immigration enforcement and anti-Trump protests nationally
By: Juan Salinas II - June 13, 2025 6:58 pm

LINCOLN — Gov. Jim Pillen has activated the Nebraska National Guard ahead of scheduled protests this weekend.

Late Friday, the governor issued an emergency proclamation that activated the Guard and prepared Guard and state law enforcement resources for immediate deployment if needed, a governor’s spokeswoman confirmed.

Typical National Guard activation can take up to 24 hours, but the proclamation shortens that time.

Nebraska has seen several protests in recent days over a federal immigration raid that hit an Omaha food plant, in what immigration officials said was the largest Nebraska enforcement operation since President Donald Trump took office.

We’re planning on protesting tomorrow.

It really sucks to be an elected Republican in America today. In theory they love Hungary. In reality there’s no way they’d live there. They’d opt for the good Ole US of A where freedom rings for all.

Gov Kehoe activated National Guard units as a just in case they're needed measure during the "state of emergency".

What a bunch of fascist fucks ( not the NG but the Republican leaders). I feel like they are starting a war against the American people right now. They are refusing to follow court orders, sending out the military, blocking Congress people from the speaker's office. They are starting a damn war. WTF Who will be our military leaders?

They’re going to militarize the country. At some point there will be a Kent State moment or worse.

It just gets worse every day.

The one girl who told a soldier (after he shook the lilac from his gun at an officer's order), "flowers are better than bullets," was killed when they opened fire on the students. They fired 67 rounds into a crowd of students.

Nixon was President. Ohio had an asshole governor—that man was terrible.

We don't need to rid our country of immigrants, we need to rid our country of conservatives. They are the worst of the worst.
