Fetterman: Military parade comprised of 'the very best of us'
Source: The Hill
Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) said that President Trumps military parade in Washington, D.C., commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, is comprised of the best of us and that it should be celebrated regardless of where one might stand on the political spectrum.
This parade is comprised of our sons, daughters, mothers and fathersthe very best of us, Fetterman wrote in a Saturday post on social media platform X. Regardless of your politics, its appropriate to celebrate the 250 years of sacrifice, dedication and service.
Fetterman demonstrated rare Democratic support for the parade that is taking place on Trumps 79th birthday. The parade has drawn criticism from Democrats and some Republicans over the expected cost of the festivities, projected to be between $25 and $45 million.
Were a lion, and a lion doesnt have to tell you its a lion, Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) said on Tuesday. I would save the money, but if the president wants to have a parade, hes the president, and Im not.

he can beat up everyone that we dislike, his gym clothes are so cool and make all the right people mad, and so on. Everything he said was awesome.
Now its lurch and brain rot and other despicable nasty bile. Essentially calling him the R word.
Simply for having a few beliefs that depart from a those of a few of us. Like standing with Israel, or some bipartisanship, or support of the military.
Please re-think the overt nastiness. Especially the insults for a medical condition.

And I dont owe you an explanation, or any damned thing.
My interests are varied, but if I see something inappropriate, I am known to say something. Kind of
. My right sort of thing, eh ? I never did like to hear people use the retard trope against someone who doesnt fit in, even when I was a kid.
Everything Ive written isnt negative, either.

(9 posts)But your post clearly insinuates that there is something wrong with my presence.
In that context of accusation, I dont owe you or anyone a damned thing.
Though I did offer a reasonable explanation despite all that. Right at the beginning.

(2,251 posts)It's the age old Republican ruse.
Kind of like the "I support our troops" yellow ribbon magnets on cars.
Um, who doesn't support the actual troops? It's boogeyman creation at its finest. Their patriotism is defined by creating "America hating Americans" out of whole cloth.

(10,719 posts)They are goose-stepping around for their Mango Mussolini's birthday.
It's often military flights that are helping kidnap innocent people to dump them in foreign torture prisons. The military has had lots of birthdays but I don't think they have had a parade before and even so this is weird by any standard.

The hate on here for the Army is unbelievable.
Krasnov hijacked the event. It'd be like us turning on Planned Parenthood if Krasnov made a donation or said something good about it.
Just because Krasnov associates with it doesn't make it bad. We've created a stubborn and blind reflexiveness in the party.

(8,494 posts)A elected scoundrel who wraps himself in the flag compromises the republic for which it stands. We know the parade was less a simple recognition of the sacrifices of our military than it was an unprecedented $45M ego boost for its Commander in Chief in the age of DOGE.
Context matters. Believe him when off camera he tells General Kelly what he thinks of the citizen soldiers, including the Generals son, who sacrificed themselves in the line of duty.
And yes, we wouldnt turn on Planned Parenthood.

(2,632 posts)They were forced to march to some sort of instrumental rendition of Fortunate Son.
Some folks are born made to wave the flag
They're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief"
They point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
Some folks are born, silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, yeah
But when the taxman comes to the door
The house look a like a rummage sale
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
Yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
They send you down to war
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
They only answer, "More, more, more"
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one

(34,176 posts)gave us those politicians. The voters. And every politician is a human being subject to every human trait inherent in us all. Greed, fear, envy, false pride...Including the person with the job of managing an organization that "Builds" the Democratic Party in every state in this country. Not one blue seat in PA that is no longer blue.

(29,549 posts)She was a very liberal member of the Arizona State Legislature and I actually voted for her in a primary for a Congressional seat over the Bill Clinton and Obama endorsed candidate thinking she would be more liberal but she shifted to the right or the center as soon as she was in office casting votes in favor of Wall Street.
When she ran as a Senator I saw her coming a mile away and actually voted for Deedra Abboud in the Democratic primary knowing how she would turn out but I still voted for her over McSally in the general election. By 2021 she was trying to impress Mitch McConnell and now she is a lobbyist mostly for crypto.
What is unique about Sinema is she used to be in the green party said that Reagan & Bush were they real "saddam lovers" & acted like a fighter for the people before becoming one of the most conservative Democrats in Congress. I think it was just greed for her switch. It wasn't just the voters Schumer wanted Sinema and discouraged other Democrats such as Stanton from entering the race.
After all this her replacement seems to be following the Sinema playbook especially at the beginning of Trump's term.

(34,176 posts)really too bad more people aren't directly involved in their elections, myself included. A day in the life of a politician was a real eye-opener for me when someone I knew was elected. She works really hard, and her knowledge of every aspect, every issue that comes to her and needs attention is astounding. She is in a small pond, and she is not a big fish. She is there because she likes it, because it's her job. She doesn't go on television, ever. That is not her job. People here would hate her.

(23,310 posts)He referred to those who sacrificed their lives in war as losers and suckers. He didn't want overweight soldiers or wounded ones to appear in military parades.
He makes an incompetent boob the Secretary of Defense.
And he deployed the National Guard to LA without adequate supplies or arranging for proper sleeping accommodations.
Yeah, Trump really cares about the welfare of America's troops.

(1,084 posts)it's now June 15 -- that's now nine (9) days in 'Occupied' Los Angeles. That's a long time for the California National Guard to be eating military rations,
C-rations and the like and to be sleeping on hard floors. Tonight Law Enforcement in downtown Los Angeles was still firing "tear gas" into protestors and shooting them with rubber bullets. There are photos of this on the Los Angeles Times website.

(16,825 posts)We need to get over this hero worship of all things military, too. Just as in any large organization there are a range of people from smart to dumb as a rock, leaders and followers and everything in between. When I worked in DoD, I met and worked with military who were talented leaders and others who were totally the opposite. The vast majority are people just doing their job like any other worker.
