'We will pay,' Savannah Guthrie says in desperate video plea to potential kidnappers of her mother

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Savannah Guthrie told the potential kidnappers of her mother Nancy Guthrie on Saturday that the family is prepared to pay for her safe return, as the frantic search for the 84-year-old Arizona resident has entered a seventh day.

“We received your message, and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her,” she said in a video posted on social media, flanked by her siblings. “This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

The “Today” show host was referencing a message that was sent to the Tucson-based television station KOLD on Friday afternoon, according to Kevin Smith, a spokesperson for the FBI office in Phoenix.

KOLD said it received an email related to the Guthrie case on social media that day but declined to share specific details about its contents as the FBI conducted its review.

The pessimistic side of me is thinking her mom is already dead, probably killed within hours of being taken from her home.

Hard to imagine a kidnapper wanting to take care of her.

If it were about money they would have resolved this days ago. Surely they don't think they're going to get off the hook. Some sick people in America.

If it was a cartel kidnapping she's probably already dead. Sad and sorry to say, but they don't return people they kidnap. Not in one piece anyway.
Life anywhere near the Mexican border has become more dangerous every year.
Maybe if U.S. ICE agents and the Border Patrol were doing their actual jobs - instead of taking over northern U.S. cities - people could live in peace in our southern border states. Donny Dipshit wants to punish people in states who didn't vote for him. That's far more important than protecting U.S. citizens.

I hope I am wrong, but I think she was killed before she was even removed from her house.

There are only 3 reasons to murder someone. Money, sex, and revenge. At 84 years old I think we can rule out sex and revenge.

I think it was someone close to the family, maybe even a distant relative.

This whole story just breaks my heart.
