Source: KOB.com

Yikes! This appears not to be airborne and maybe some drug?

MOUNTAINAIR, N.M. — Three people are dead, three remain hospitalized and a total of 25 people have been exposed to an unknown substance at home Wednesday in Mountainair.

Paramedics and sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Hanlon Avenue and Pinon Street, regarding a call made around 8 a.m. about a possible overdose on an unknown substance.

First responders found one person dead outside of the home, one dead inside and two other people who needed resuscitation. One of those two people later died at the ER.

Twice in the last few years I've had to stop someone from mixing bleach into windex. Their plan in both cases was to use it to clean a glass stovetop.

Authorities say its spread by contact, not airborne. Weird.

This sounds more like an institution, not a residence. My first thought was carbon monoxide, but they said it's not airborne.

A substance spread by contact to 18 responders? I can't imagine what it could be. Perhaps something that broke down too quickly to be identified?

from cadavers and poisoned patients, causing illness among healthcare workers.
It's a component in pesticides. Perhaps the initial patients were farmworkers?
