Elon Musk becomes the world's first trillionaire with SpaceX's IPO

Source: CBS News

Elon Musk has become the first person to cross the trillionaire threshold, at least on paper, after SpaceX priced its blockbuster initial public offering at $135 a share.

Before the IPO, Musk was worth an estimated $813 billion, a fortune more than twice as large as the planet's second-richest person, Google co-founder Larry Page, who is worth an estimated $288 billion, according to Forbes.

SpaceX formally setting its stock price at $135 boosted Musk's fortune to just over $1 trillion. The shares, which will trade under the ticker symbol "SPCX," are poised to begin trading on Friday after the Nasdaq Composite index opens at 9:30 a.m. If SpaceX rises above $135 per share, Musk's wealth will climb further, though he could fall below the trillionaire threshold if the stock sinks.

Snip…

Musk's surging fortune represents a "new Gilded Age" of wealth inequality, Oxfam America senior director of economic justice Nabil Ahmed said in a statement.

"Elon Musk's rise to trillionaire status marks a new pinnacle of oligarchy," Ahmed said.

4. Werner von Braun called the guy, the "Elon."

Before Musk was born…

In 1953, former NAZI, Project PAPERCLIP import, and father of the V-2 and Saturn-V rockets, Dr. Werner von Braun, published Project Mars, a science fiction novel to generate interest in rocketry and manned space exploration. Von Braun's book also mentioned the name of the man who would lead a 10-person "Kabinett" to administer Mars. Coincidentally or not, Von Braun named the fellow, Elon.

PDF to same.

This really, really bugs me.

An excellent article from The Debrief:

Did Wernher von Braun Actually Predict Elon Musk Would Rule Mars Over 70 Years Ago?

by Tim McMillan
The Debrief, January 28, 2025

In the annals of space exploration history, a curious coincidence recently captured the imagination of science enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists alike.

On January 27, a social media claim went viral, alleging that Wernher von Braun, the famed German-American rocket scientist, had predicted a leader named “Elon” would guide humanity’s colonization of Mars. This claim originates from a passage in The Mars Project, an obscure science fiction book by von Braun in 1948.

Snip...

However, a closer examination of the facts—and the historical context surrounding von Braun’s work—potentially offers a more nuanced and ultimately less mystical explanation for the bizarre coincidence.

Snip...

In the text, von Braun envisions a Martian society with a political structure akin to a technocracy. The leader of this society is referred to as “Elon,“ a title rather than a proper name.

“The government of Mars consisted of ten men. At its head was a governor elected by the general population for five years at a time, whom the Martians called the ‘Elon,‘” von Braun wrote.

Why von Braun chose the name “Elon“ for the leader of the Martian colony in The Mars Project remains a subject of speculation. One plausible explanation is that von Braun, who was once a member of the Nazi Party and came to America through Operation Paperclip, likely deliberately avoided German words commonly associated with leadership titles, such as Führer, due to their apparent connections to Adolf Hitler.

Some passages seem to have struck and stuck.

A self-fulfilling wannabe Martian dictator uh leader displays a non-traditional gesture of salutation.

Elon Musk had more extensive ties to Epstein than previously known, emails show

Newly released files from DoJ show the pair making plans in 2012 and 2013 for the Tesla CEO to visit Epstein’s island

Elon Musk had more extensive – and more friendly – communications with the financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein than previously publicly known, according to documents released on Friday by the Department of Justice. Emails in the files appear to show the two cordially messaging each other on two separate occasions to make plans for Musk to visit Epstein’s island.

The documents include Musk and Epstein emailing in both 2012 and 2013 to determine when Musk should make the trip to Little St James. Neither exchanges appear to have resulted in Musk visiting the island, due to logistical issues.

“Will be in the BVI/St Bart’s area over the holidays. Is there a good time to visit?” Musk states on 13 December 2013.

“any day 1st - 8th . play it by ear if you want. always space for you,” Epstein replies.

Elon Musk the world’s first trillionaire: The SpaceX IPO and the social physiognomy of oligarchy

by Joseph Kishore
World Socialist Web Site, June 13, 2026

Excerpt…

An oligarchy that has built its fortune on speculation and parasitism conducts a foreign policy of criminality and gangsterism. As SpaceX was being floated on the Nasdaq this week, US bombs were falling on Iran, with Trump, who earlier threatened that “a whole civilization will die,” proposing to seize the country’s oil fields and refineries and raising the prospect of using nuclear weapons. More than three decades of unending American war are passing over into the opening stages of global war.

SpaceX itself is bound to the Pentagon and the intelligence agencies by billions of dollars in contracts. Its Starlink constellation is already woven into the communications of active war zones, from Ukraine to the Middle East. The very orbital infrastructure now capitalized at $2.1 trillion is, in substantial part, an instrument of American war.

At home, the oligarchy has its true representative in the Trump regime: a government of gangsters and grifters, openly contemptuous of legality, courts and constitutions. Musk himself spent the past eighteen months bankrolling the international far-right: endorsing Germany’s AfD, boosting the British fascist Tommy Robinson, waging war on Brazil’s courts on behalf of the Bolsonarists, and promoting the antisemitic “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory to 200 million followers on X, the platform he bought to convert into a haven for the far-right.

Every dollar handed to Musk and his fellow oligarchs is a charge laid against the working class, to be collected through a ferocious assault on its conditions of life—wage-cutting and mass layoffs, the gutting of healthcare, pensions and public education, the destruction of every social protection that stands between profit and the labor that produces it.

But this assault is generating growing opposition. The same process that has raised up an oligarchy of unprecedented wealth is driving the working class into struggle. Future historians will not find the social explosions coinciding with Musk’s orgy of wealth surprising. They will find them inevitable.

The fight against the oligarchy must be waged through the development of the class struggle, armed with a socialist and revolutionary program. From Bernie Sanders, forever pleading with the oligarchs to “pay their fair share,” to Lula’s proposed “billionaire tax” of two cents on the dollar, to New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who greeted Musk’s new fortune on Friday with a call to “tax the rich”—all propose tinkering around the edges, minor reforms that they know will never be implemented.

The issue is the oligarchy itself, and its stranglehold over economic life. The banks and major corporations, and with them the immense productive forces the working class has created, must be expropriated, taken into public ownership and placed under the democratic control of the working class, to be developed not for the profit of a handful of parasites but to meet the needs of humanity. This is the only rational answer to a social order that heaps up trillions for a few while condemning billions to poverty and plunging the world toward dictatorship and war. The SpaceX IPO is the case for socialism.

They are still trying to match up buyers and sellers in pre-market and standing orders- it’s been going as high as $175 in pre-market , and they are saying (it’s at $160 as of 11:20 ) it will be a while before they are done with all the preorders run through-orders and ready to actively trade.

13. These "IPO" stock offerings are fascinating........
Fri Jun 12, 2026, 12:53 PM
Friday

As I have witnessed, only the UBER rich clients are allowed to buy the IPO stock...........

Sooooo, classically what happens is, they are allowed to buy the stock at the opening price that is established........In this case....135?/share
The price always goes up radically in the first 2-3 hours, and then usually goes down. The UBER rich clients buy however many shares they have been "allotted" at the opening price, then sells three hours later before the peak, and before the price starts to retreat......
In this case they buy at 135 a share, and if they get out at 160 a share, they make approximately 20% on their investment in THREE HOURS......

Cute, huh.........

This is just the beginning. Soon he will have three trillion, four trillion, more.

The sky is the limit.

He won't be the only one. Other billionaires are racing to get their trillions, too.

If we don't act to stop this, there will be about a dozen people owning 90% of our country's wealth.

Is that what we want? Are these people really each the value of tens of millions of regular working folks?

The pallets of dollar bills stop at 9,935 feet. Musk has almost 6 times the amount of that final stack now.

The pile of money representative of his current wealth would be 58,446 feet high...that's twice the height of Mount Everest.
