President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian both digitally signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday laying out terms for ending the war, according to U.S. officials. The White House confirmed that Trump signed the memorandum on Wednesday while at dinner at the Palace of Versailles with French President Emmanuel Macron.
A U.S. official told NBC News that the memorandum was signed digitally on Sunday by Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and witnessed by Trump.
Vance will still travel to Switzerland on Friday for a signing of the memorandum, according to a U.S. official, presumably for a ceremonial event.
The U.S. is expected to lift sanctions on Iran and unfreeze funds and assets linked to the countrys regime under the 14-point memorandum of understanding provided to NBC News by a senior U.S. official.
