Rubio to host summit on political violence on July 15

Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON, June 25 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will host a summit on July 15 that will include dozens of countries to discuss ways to ‌counter a resurgence in political violence, a State Department official said on Thursday.

The "ministerial on resurgence of political terrorism" will be held in Washington and Rubio plans to invite representatives of more than 60 countries from regions including the Western Hemisphere, Europe and Asia, the official said.

The summit follows President Donald Trump's counterterrorism strategy, which he signed in May, focused on identifying and neutralizing what the White House called "violent, secular political groups whose ideology is anti-American, radically transgender or anarchist, such as Antifa."

The State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the global threat has not been adequately addressed in the ‌past.

Every previous non-45 administration has repeatedly reported, with evidence, that most of the recent terrorism is carried out by right-wing oriented groups, both domestically and globally, mostly antisemitic, racist, sexist, and particularly, xenophobic.

That is about as surprising as the state of the nation at the moment.

Which is to say, not at all surprising.

Only a purposely 'blind' optimist would not have seen all of this coming.

And since we are here...

Pointing out the irony of holding this in the city where his boss incited a riot to overthrow the people's representatives, just 5 years before. Of defining an anti-fascist position as "anti-American". Of using the word "secular" as if that's a problem, rather than the way the US Constitution wants people to participate in the political process. Of bringing "transgender" into this as if that actually has anything to do with political violence anywhere in the world, apart from anti-transgender violence.

The most anarchistic administration the US has ever had is the Trump one - a felon and rapist in charge, which breaks more laws than any other has remotely approached. It is anarcho-capitalist - money has power, and grabbing money, while ignoring laws, is its fundamental strategy.
