At the end of the day integrity is all you have

Old woman here approaching 76 . I once quit a job because I was asked to cut employee hours from full time to part time so company could take away their health insurance. My husband of 17 years left me because I " wasn't pulling my weight " not immediately but shortly after. Worked hard , found5 better job , remarried wonderful man.
Life happen mostly good but one of the things I am proud of is walking out of that meeting and saying "No, you will do what you are going to do but I do not have to be part of it.".

And you are right. Sometimes it's all we have, but it is fulfilling and valuable in ways those who lack it can never know.

I said 2 events in you life may have been disappointments at the time.

Yes, I do think you deciding to leave your job because of a management decision to cut staff hours may
have been a disappointment for you. Maybe it wasn't and you were considering leaving your job soon anyway. I applaud you for having the power of your convictions to take the immediate action, That doesn't mean you couldn't be disappointed to leave a job that maybe you liked(?) and fellow staff that maybe you liked (?)

I also would think that your marriage of 17 years ending in divorce was a disappointment for you at the time. Maybe it wasn't. Maybe you weren't happy in your marriage and you were elated it was ending.

We've all had "disappointing experiences in our lives. It takes strong and determined person to turn those experiences into a positive out come and you appear to have done that. That was my point.

I'm disappointed you interpreted my post other wise.
