looking at several interesting recipes the other day that called for them, and thought how convenient it would be if I could just buy them. Had never seen such in any store. The next day, while at my supermarket, I saw carmelized onion paste. Interesting. I figured I could make that work. Then, yesterday, a friend and I were at our favourite discount/overstock grocery store. .and there they were. .jars and jars of carmelized onions!!!

I sometimes throw a piece of bacon in the same pan to create more flavor.

I've frequently been tempted to just make a big batch and freeze it in individual portions.

Here's something I ran across, but haven't tried it yet.

(132,898 posts)knew they had to have come from somewhere, since I was at the bargain store. Between that, and the roasted garlic and onion jam (which I consider a staple!), I figure I am doing well for easy onions!
As for dear old alton. .I used to enjoy his shows. .until I learned what a reichwing hack he was.
