(1,900 posts)Yet I still give my barber $100 for that 10m minute haircut. I'm not going to let someone touch my head for minimum wage.

Marty comes one day and tells Sam he needs his best haircut. Marty is going to the Vatican and is going the be at mass in St. Peters square. Big trip.
A month later Marty comes in and sits in Billys chair. Sams like hey! Whats going on? Ive been cutting your hair for 30!years!!
Marty then tells the story of the mass. The Pope came out, starts the mass, starts looking right at Marty, and withdraws back inside. The crowd murmurs. Then the doors open in the ground floor. Out walks the Pope and he walks right up to Marty.
Sam, Well, what did he say?
Marty, He looks me right in the eyes and said Who the fuck cuts your hair?!??l

(2,404 posts)Although I guess you can only short them on the tip once.
Seriously though, that was the price point at which I told my partner that I was willing to risk a bad free haircut for awhile during the learning curve. Paid haircuts at a known barber a few times a year for special occasions, and in between, it's day of beauty at home.

(16,304 posts)Along with a friend of mine who happened to also be going there we always tried to get a certain hair cutter who was the best in the shop.
This hair cutter decided to open her own shop and poached some customers from GC including me and my friend. She grandfathered us in at $20 (senior rate) and have been at that rate for a few years. I always add another $10 and still feel like it's a bargain, especially after reading some of the comments here.
