(33,885 posts)I recently watched the 2016 remake of "The Magnificent Seven" and was very disappointed.
Even Denzel Washington and Vincent D'Onofrio couldn't save that pile of crap.
Also, the original "Seven" had that great Henry Mancini theme music, which was used to sell Marlboro cigarettes on TV.

(18,398 posts)Got a pretty good look at it a few weeks ago.
Edward G. was becoming more of a character actor than a lead at that point of his career. Fred MacMurray played 1st of his 3 repellent roles, the other 2 were The Caine Mutiny and The Apartment.

(8,653 posts)He was practicing touch and go maneuvers in the Phoenix. It buckled and flipped, he died instantly. You can notice that a different plane was used in the ending scenes. He was also known for taking off and landing solo a B-17 in a belly landing in 12 O' Clock High.

(3,566 posts)Who somehow invented warp drive at the same time.
His character is a testament and allegory for how even the most flawed individuals can do heroic things (even if they dont mean to)
