Gabapentin and cats--your experience?

Gabapentin is supposed to make cats calmer. Last time my cat had her shots, the vet gave me a few gabapentin capsules. They told me to give it to her 2 hours before going to the vet's office (always a fun trip

I did exactly as told but it didn't make much, if any, difference in her behavior.

They were 100 mg capsules. I wonder if I should've given her two instead of just one. I'll ask the vet about that before trying it. She's a fairly large cat (12 lbs).

Two hours before taking her to vet visits.

I'm going to say she weighed around 9lbs but I don't remember the mg capsules given, I would assume it was 100 mg.

I always disliked it when we got back home and she would be all wobbly, but whatever it took for her not to draw blood from the vet and vet techs. She nailed them once and that's all it took.

It did help calm her until the CKD got worse and she stopped eating all together.

What did your vet say about this?

It calms mine, but it's not like a sedative or anything.
