If your Fridge is running, someone just might catch it.
That's exactly what happened after a Minnesota woman's after her cat, aptly named Fridge, survived 40 days alone in the Colorado wilderness before being found and reunited with her owner hundreds of miles from home.
Nakee Bullen, a tattoo artist from Isanti, Minnesota, and her boyfriend were driving back from Los Angeles and stopped to camp near Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado as they visited several national parks along the way.
But the trip took a devastating turn when Bullen woke up early one morning to discover both of her cats had escaped from the campsite.

(115,546 posts)Totally indoor cats would certainly have quite the challenge of adapting. Give the hungry predators this time of year and snakes, that cat was truly lucky. That said, there would have been plenty of rodents if he was a "hunter."
Very lucky...

(115,546 posts)Yes, you are right if they are lost nearby, but these Colorado lost animals (whether from car wrecks or other) along I-70 or elsewhere in the state are a very different story. We've had Park Service, Forest Service, and State rescue volunteer groups spend days successfully trying to get to dogs trapped on ledges in very difficult areas to rappel--in order to rescue them and we've had dogs who were lost for close to a year that were apparently accepted into coyote or wolf groups. Fascinating how they manage to survive, but cats--not so much. But, if they were outdoor cats (at least partially) and had used their "hunting skills," they have a far better chance.
Wonder Why
