I've posted this song before by the Chambers Brothers, but I feel the need to post it again,

the first time I heard it was in Vietnam when Adrian Cronauer played it, we were getting ready to head into the bush, waiting on a traffic jam when it came over the radio, our platoon rocked out to it.

I really heard this sound. Mind expanding. Then all musical hell broke out. Too much truly great music to catalogue. Just glad I was 18 and heard totally awesome music.

One of the very best all-time tunes MarineCombatEngineer! Thanks especially for giving us this eleven minutes plus recording, from which the hit single was edited.

According to band member, Willie Chambers, Columbia Records wasn't going to record the song. Their producer thought differently.

He told the band, "When we get our recording date, you guys show up an hour early, we’re going to go in the studio, we’re going to turn on the tape, we’re going to play it live, we’re going to do it like a live performance. We’re going to record it and whatever we get we’re going to have to live with it. We can’t play back, we can’t overdub, we can’t splice, we can’t fix something if there’s a mistake, we’re just going to have to live with it.’ He says, ‘I’m probably going to lose my job, but that’s how important it is to me to record this song.’

Willie Chambers — "When we got our moment, we went in the studio and did it in one take. ‘Time Has Come Today’ was done in one take. There was no listening back – we couldn’t listen back. When we came to the end of it, we had no idea where it was going to go. Once we ended it, we shut down the machines and then we left the studio and came back at the time we were supposed to."

got curious. I've always loved the "hit single," but this one-take gem is the best.

He would find a way to get it on the turntable at every party I went to at that dorm.

I keep hearing it in my head.

Now the time has come
There are things to realize
Time has come today
Time has come today
