"Driftwood Lounging" - Bandon Beach, Oregon - June 2025

The caption is a dig at the ubiquitous and mundane name of coastal bars almost anywhere there might be a wee bit of water. On my drive back home to Carolina from Idaho in September, I ate at a bar & grill in Ogallala, Nebraska, called "The Driftwood." It should have been called "Ogallala Steakhouse," because it had the best steak I have had in years. But I guess McConaughy Lake on the North Platte River is enough water to justify the restaurant name .. Driftwood.

I probably didn’t sit on that piece of driftwood but I have sat on another on that beach. One of my favorite places although I haven’t been there for almost 20 years. Your photos are reminders that I need to go back!
