Tonight on Amanpour and Company, Monday, June 15th, 2026
Karim Sadjadpour
Senior Fellow, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace
Leaders of the world's most powerful nations are gathering in France for the G7. This year's summit comes just as the U.S. and Iran say they have struck a tentative deal to end hostilities and open the Strait of Hormuz. The text of the deal has not yet been made public, and there are conflicting accounts of what will follow a signing ceremony on Friday. To add to the uncertainty, the agreement does not resolve what is perhaps the most important long-term issue: Iran's nuclear program and its existing highly enriched uranium. These negotiations are meant to be dealt with in the next two months. For more on this, Iran expert Karim Sadjadpour joins the show from Washington, D.C.
William D. Cohan
Financial Author and Journalist / Founding Partner, Puck News
On Friday unimaginable levels of wealth were generated on Wall Street. SpaceX's historic IPO made Elon Musk the world's first trillionaire. What does all this tell us about the state of the U.S. economy? William Cohan, former Wall Street banker, has chronicled American business and finance for years. He joins the show from Massachusetts.
Viktória Serdült
Hungarian Journalist
Hungary used to be a darling of the MAGA movement until April, when Peter Magyar ousted President Trump's ally, strongman Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. Since taking office Magyar has quickly set to work on reforms, unlocking frozen E.U. funds and pushing for term limits that could block Orbán from returning to power. For its part, Orbán's Fidesz party appears not to be changing course. Over the weekend Orbán was re-elected as party leader for another year. What do Hungarian voters make of their new government so far? Hungarian journalist Viktória Serdült joins the show from Budapest.
Dan Diamond
Reporter, The Washington Post
Over the past year President Trump has embarked on multiple construction projects throughout the nation's capital, including an update of the Rose Garden, repainting the Reflecting Pool and perhaps most notably building a massive ballroom as part of a dramatic East Wing renovation. Washington Post reporter Dan Diamond, who has been following Trump's rebuilding plans, joins the show to discuss how the administration is reshaping Washington D.C., and what these projects reveal about the President's vision for the capital city.
